Panaji: Handicrafts and Folk Dance Festival `Lokotsav - 2009'

'Lokotsav 2009' the much awaited folk festival is underway in Goa. 'Lokotsav' features handicrafts and folk dances of different states in their pure form.



The traditional Odissi 'Gotipua Dance'.

 


Dhol Dholok Cholam dance of Manipur.



Kumi Kollatum dance of Tamil Nadu.

 


The traditional Goan Fugadi dance.



The traditional 'Kalbelia' dance of Rajashthan.

The National level annual affair is being jointly organised by Directorate of Art and Culture, West Zone Cultural Centre-Udaipur in association with Kala Academy and Sports Authority of Goa. 

Folk dances featuring in the festival includes Mewasi (Gujarat), Dhol Dholak Cholam (Manipur), Pung Cholam Dance (Manipur), Gotipua Dance (Orissa), Rangoli Bihu Dance (Assam), Puppet Show (Kathaputali) (Rajashthan), Manganiyar (Rajashthan), Goan Fugadi. Goan Dhalo, Kalbelia (Rajashthan), Bhavai (Rajashthan), Bahurupia (Rajashthan), Siddhi Dhamal (Gujarat), Thang-Ta Dance (Manipur) and Kumi Kollatum (Tamil Nadu).
