Panaji: German Rape Case - No Charges against Minister's Son

Panaji, Jan 7: Goa police have said that there are no charges against state education minister Atanasio Monserratte in the sensational German minor rape case which allegedly involved his son, Rohit.

Police in their affidavit to the Goa Bench of Bombay High court on Tuesday has said that the charges against Monserratte could not be established.

Anjuna police investigating the case had earlier charged the minister of abetting the crime as the mobile from which the lewd messages were sent to the 14 year old minor German girl was registered in Monserratte's name.

The affidavit submitted before the High court clarified that they have interfered that Monserratte cannot be charged based upon the opinion issued by the Directorate of Prosecution, where the case was forwarded to have formal opinion.

Goa police have been asked by High court on Tuesday to file chargesheet in German minor rape case within a week.
The High court is hearing the case suo motto and had earlier castigated the investigating agencies for lethargy in the probe.
German mother had alleged that Monserratte's son, Rohit, had sexually abused her daughter. She had also named public works department minister Churchill Alemao's nephew warran for being involved in the case.
