Puttur, Jan 18: Mai De Deus Parish, Puttur celebrated its Parish Feast with much grandeur January 16.

In preparation to this feast, a confraternity Sunday Mass was held at St Philomena Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall on January 13. Fr Peter Gonsalves, the parish priest of Bellare, as well as the assistant teacher of St Philomena High School was the main celebrant. He preached a meaningful homily highlighting the purpose of our gathering i.e. to serve the humanity with a bond of love.

After the Holy Eucharist, a short adoration was conducted followed by the Eucharistic procession. Then, Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament was carried in procession in a boat-shaped decorated vehicle to every street and corner of the town and finally brought to Mai De dues Church, Puttur, followed by a Solemn Eucharistic blessing.

A festal Mass was held on January 16. Before the Mass, people who contributed for the feast were honored by the parish priest by giving them the Blessed candles, followed by the festal Mass. Fr Valerian Frank was the main celebrant and he preached a meaningful homily on the theme ‘Mother Mary and the Church’, and explained how to build up families in the Church. Around 32 priests concelebrated the Mass.

Fr Alfred J Pinto, the parish priest of Mai De Deus Church, Puttur, thanked each and everyone. A sumptuous meal was served to all the invitees. A number of game-stalls were put up by YCS and ICYM members. Thus, a huge crowd of people gathered for the festal Mass.
