Mangaluru, Jan 16: District in charge minister U T Khader said on Wednesday, January 16 that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s statement on MP Veerappa Moily over Vijaya Bank merger is baseless.
Addressing media here, Khader said, "MP Nalin’s statement is political motivated. He has no proof. I have discussed it with Moily who was in the finance committee. There was no such proposal of merger which came to the notice of finance committee.
“Being in a responsible position as a MP, Nalin should have pressurised the central government by forming delegations from both the districts. Since six months, the MP was mum and all of a sudden, he criticises Moily for no reason. Nalin Kumar Kateel has claimed that the resolution was passed during the finance committee meeting. If it is so, let him disclose the agenda with proof. It is not right to confuse public and play politics in the name of Vijaya Bank.
“Moily has already written to the central government opposing the merger of Vijaya Bank. He has even written to MP Nalin showing his dissatisfaction over his criticism regard to Vijaya Bank merger,” he said.
The government has released Rs 58 crore for natural disaster in the district which is the highest grant till date for the district, informed U T Khader.
BJP' ‘Operation Lotus’ in vain
U T Khader said, "BJP's plan to topple the coalition government through ‘Operation Lotus’ has ended as a failure.
Taking a jibe at BJP, Khader said, "They could not control four corporators during BBMP elections. How can they think about controlling 15 MLAs? BJP play test matches, while we play one-day matches. As many as 150 taluks are drought hit and preparations are going on for budget. Then what are these MLAs doing in resort?”
