Mangaluru, Jan 14: Under the Tag of ‘Celebrate the Elderly’, Senior Citizens’ Day was celebrated on Sunday, January 14 at Roshni Nilaya organized by UXEL Institute of Excellence Mangaluru along with collaboration with St Milagrese Credit Sourdha Co-operative Society Karwar, Hisrar Event Management, and Roshni Nilaya Mangaluru.
The programme began with felicitation of elderly people with a kit which consisted necessary items for elderly people. George fernandes Founder and MD of St Milagres Credit Cooperative Society lit the lamp. Soon after the inaugural programme, Prof Maria D’Costa and Alan Rasquinha welcomed the gathering. The gathering was welcomed with a welcome dance performed by Gayle Rodrigues. The chief guest was introduced by Uxcel faculty Savitha Salian.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr Thangam Verghese said, “Old age is a blessing by God. Our life in this world is like having dinner and old age is a period where one is waiting for the deserts after the dinner. Hence we all must eager to wait for the beautiful day that God has reserved for us that is uniting with Him.”
National yoga trainer Devika Pushotham conducted yoga session for elderly people to stay healthy.
Dhiraj D’Costa compered the programme. Pramdo Pinto rendered the vote of thanks.
