Udupi, Jan 13: “The state government had assured that it has asked for cooperation from ISRO to find missing fishing boat. But no such letter is written to ISRO so far,” said fisheries federation president Yashpal Suvarna expressing anguish on January 12.

“It shows the lethargy of the government. Fishermen are missing since nearly a month. All the fishermen are anxious. But the state government has not considered it seriously,” he said in dissatisfaction.

Senior district police officers and fisheries minister had said that help from ISRO will be obtained to find missing fishermen.

Meeting of fishermen

As a week has passed by after mass protests by fishermen, leaders of fishermen association held a meeting in fishermen community hall, Malpe on Saturday. Fishermen in the meeting discussed the next move as a week’s deadline was given to find fishermen. The meeting decided to hold final meeting with home minister before protest campaign as no clues of missing fishermen are found yet.

Fishermen association president Sathish Kunder, Nagaraj Suvarna, Gopala R K, Somanath Kanchan, Ramesh Kotian, Ramachandra Kunder and others were present.

Both state and central governments must put all efforts to trace the fishermen. Govt which boasts heavily of surgical strike can't it use technology to trace these poor common people. No concern for common people. This is democracy of India.

The government shows interest only when its a matter of vote, some good for nothing minister/ celebrity is kidnapped, wedding of son/ daughter of an industrialist etc etc . When lives of poor people are in danger, they never bother.
