Mangaluru, Jan 11: Derick Chess School prodigy Arushi S H D’Silva has emerged runner up in the under-9 girls category in Karnataka state schools chess championship held at Bengaluru on January 6. The event was held by Innovator Chess Academy under the auspices of United Karnataka Chess Association.
Arushi D’Silva scored five points in six rounds and was tied along with Shanjula Senthil and Shriyana Mallya for the top honor. Although Arushi had won with Shanjula due to tie break points she had to be content for runner up.
Arushi is the daughter of Anand F M D’Silva and Rita D’Souza of Derebail. She is a student of third standard in Carmel School, Mangaluru.
Derick Chess school talents Rima Rao and Lakshith B Salian also delivered an impressive performance bagging fourth and fifth positions in under 7 girls and under 15 boys respectively.
