Parrikar said that the state government had failed to carry out a confidence-building exercise amongst the people of the nation. He said that Goa should have been projected as a safe tourist destination.
The leader of opposition further added that the state chief minister and home minister were busy making ‘irresponsible statements’ scaring away tourists, instead of reinforcing faith in the people
The former chief minister said that the panic would cost the state tourism dearly as the peak season was marred due to fears of terrorism.
Disagreeing that a beach party ban was required in the state, he said that the decision terrified the tourists who preferred to stay away for Christmas
