Bengaluru, Dec 30: JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda, announced on Saturday December 29 that his grandson and minister, H D Revanna's son, Prajwal Revanna, will enter the fray on behalf of the party from Hassan constituency in the next Lok Sabha poll. At present, this constituency is represented by Deve Gowda himself.

Although Deve Gowda did not say from which constituency he would be contesting the election, many analysts believe that he will choose the city (north) constituency. This constituency has predominance of Vokkaliga votes. It is now represented by BJP leader and former chief minister, D V Sadananda Gowda.

Revanna will the first among the third generation politicians from Deve Gowda's family to enter politics. Gowda has already said that his party will put forth claim for 12 Lok Sabha constituencies although it has only two MPs now from Karnataka. He also agreed that during mutual discussions, there can be some seat adjustments as his party is keen on having truck with the Congress for Lok Sabha election. Gowda feels that Mandya and Hassan constituencies will remain the bastions of his party and his grandson will register easy victory.

After reorganisation of the constituency, the city (north) constituency has always been represented by Vokaligas. D B Chandre Gowda used to win from here. Now, D V Sadananda Gowda is representing it. If Deve Gowda chooses to fight from here, the fight will be between Deve Gowda and Sadananda Gowda. It is said that by fighting election from the city (north) constituency, Gowda plans to add another Lok Sabha constituency to his party's kitty.
