Kundapur, Dec 29: The last rites of Madhukar Shetty, one of the honest senior police officers who passed away on Friday, December 28 will be held in his hometown at Yedyadi in Kundapur on Sunday at 10 am. Udupi district administration and the family members of the deceased have started funeral preparations.
His relatives, local people and police officials have already arrived at ‘Rai Farm’, his residence. District SP Laxman Nimbargi, DySP Jayashanker, Manipal circle inspector Sudarshan, Brahmavar circle inspector Srikanth, several other police officers, Kundapur tahisildar Thappeswamy and staff are stationed at the place.
The mortal remains of Madhukar Shetty, will arrive from Hyderabad via Bengaluru to Mangaluru airport at 8.30 pm on Dec 29. “It will be kept for public homage from 9.15 pm to 10.30 pm after government honour by the district administration,” said Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister U T Khader in a release.
Minister Khader has already held discussions with deputy commissioner and police commissioner to make suitable arrangements to bring the body to Yedyadi, Kundapur. The last rites will be held there at 10 am on Sunday after making provision for public homage.
Karnataka has shed tears on the demise of Madhukar Shetty. State chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Yeddyurappa and others have expressed their condolences on the death of upright police officer. Minister D K Shivakumar has urged for investigations into the death of Madhukar Shetty.
