Udupi, Dec 29: Due to the initiative taken by Daijiworld and the generous contribution that poured from the kind-hearted readers of Daijiworld, in addition to the relentless hard work of the local youth and public, a roof is built for the family of Indira, a resident of Kodankoor near here. This beautiful house has been handed over to the elderly woman.
Vishwanath Poojary, president of Kodankoor Friends Club, members of the club and members of Karmika Vedike Sandeep and Sumati also have pitched in their efforts to build this house for the elderly lady.
The family of Indira was living without a roof for many years bearing the brunt of rain and wind. Daijiworld Media came to know about the plight faced by the elderly Indirajji and her family and published the same on its website on July 1, 2018. The kind-hearted response of our readers also instilled lots of confidence in Indirajji. Our readers responded within a week of publishing this article on our website. That too, the readers in Dubai, who read this heart-wrenching story, approached Sandeep through telephone and inquired about the well-being of Indirajji and sent monetary aid to build the house.
The house of Indirajji was decades old. So it was impossible to repair the same. It was to be built completely new. The estimated cost was Rs four lacs for this work. Indirajji, who is 70-years-old, is rolling beedies and feeding three people through this work.
In addition, local panchayat officials, who came to know about the plight of Indirajji through Daijiworld article, approached Vittal and Srinivas, two brothers of Indirajji, personally and got their Aadhaar cards done. Within 15 days of publishing of the story, the donors had deposited an amount of Rs 1, 59,000 through NEFT in the bank account of Indirajji. Our readers who have joined hands together are the perfect example for the saying 'Many Drops Make an Ocean'.
Members of local organization KFC and Kodankoor Friends have also visited the house of Indirajji and contributed financially for the construction of new house. Numerous pitiful stories like that of Indirajji are in and around us in the society. Daijiworld is providing a platform to bring the woes of such helpless families to the attention of the public and make a difference in their lives.
The newly constructed house for Indirajji was recently handed over to the family of the elderly woman recently by MLA Raghupati Bhat. Chandrika Shetty and Ravi Shetty Byndoor, members of Karmika Vedike were present on the occasion.
The poor family of Indirajji was not getting subsidized ration food since one year as their ration card was cancelled. When the officials of food department and village accountant were approached with regards to this issue, they have assured of getting the ration card done immediately. One family member is getting the benefit of Sandhya Suraksha Scheme, which needs to be made available to other two members of this poor family also. The respective department officials have already responded in this regard.
