Kundapur, Dec 28: IPS officer Dr Madhukar Shetty, who was diagnosed with H1N1 infection, passed away at Continental Hospital Hyderabad on Friday, December 28.
He was 47.
A 1999-batch (Karnataka cadre) officer, Madhukar, underwent surgery related to heart and lungs successfully on Wednesday. His heart and lungs were infected. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital and was under close observation.
Madhukar had a MA in Sociology from Jawaharalal Nehru University, New Delhi, and PhD in Public Administration from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, University at Albany, Albany, New York.
Madhukar served as ASP in Bengaluru Rural District, SP in Chamarajanagar and Chikmagalur Districts, SP-Special Task Force during the last phase of anti-Veerappan operations, SP- Anti-Naxal Force, SP-Karnataka Lokayukta, Aide De Camp to the Governor of Karnataka, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru. In 2008-2009, he went on deputation to the United Nations Mission in Kosova, where he worked with the War Crimes Investigation Unit.
Madhukar Shetty was last posted as deputy director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy at Hyderabad.
He is the son of well-known journalist late Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty.
