Kundapur, Dec 28: IPS officer from here, Dr Madhukar Shetty, who has been diagnosed with H1N1 infection, underwent surgery related to heart and lungs successfully at Continental Hospital Hyderabad. The doctors are continuing to treat him.
Madhukar's heart and lungs were infected. A team of specialist surgeons performed surgery on him on the night of Wednesday December 26. The doctors said that the IPS officer has now been kept in the intensive care unit of the hospital and he will be under close observation for 72 hours.
Telangana police department has been taking care of Dr Madhukar Shetty's treatment. Senior officers including V C Sajjanar, police commissioner of Cyberabad, who is from Karnataka, and others have been closely monitoring the treatment of Dr Shetty by being in constant touch with the doctors of the hospital.
State CID additional director general of police, Pratap Reddy, has camped in the hospital to be able to monitor health condition and treatment of Dr Shetty, State Police Academy director, Vipul Kumar, Kalaburagi district superintendent of police, N Shashikumar, and senior police officials close to Madhukar Shetty have visited the hospital.
Officers and other staff who were under Madhukar Shetty, when he was serving the state, have also been visiting Continental Hospital, wishing him well, and praying for his well-being.
Madhukar Shetty has currently been posted as deputy director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy at Hyderabad.
