Mangaluru, Dec 28: Staff of city crime branch (CCB) police and district education officer, based on a tip off, raided a godown near Dambel, Gurukripa oil mill, within the limits of Urwa police station limits and seized materials supplied by the government for use under midday meals and 'Ksheera Bhagya' schemes illegally stored there.
The officials arrested Basavaraju, resident of Kushtagi, Koppala, Chandrakumar, a resident of Ashok Nagar in the city, and Rakshith from Chilimbi here.
The items seized include a quintal of toor dal, 2.5 quintals of rice and seven bags full of milk powder weighing 25 kgs each. The lorry used for transporting the items also was seized. The value of goods and lorry so taken into possession has been estimated at Rs 10, 49,200.
A police case in this connection stands registered in Urwa police station.
The operation was conducted by CCB police inspector Shantaram, police sub-inspectors, Sham Sunder and Kabbalraj as well as staff of education department and district education officer Rajalakshmi.
