Kasargod, Dec 27: In a landmark judgment, Kasargod additional sessions court awarded 25 years imprisonment to two accused for raping a 16-year-old girl five years ago. Both the accused were also asked to pay a fine of Rs 1.25 lac and Rs one lac respectively.
The accused are auto rickshaw driver Badiadka Baradka resident A Ibrahim Khaleel (30) and his friend Beejantadka resident B A Khaleel (30).
The incident took place on July 15, 2013. The two accused had kidnapped the minor girl, who was on her way to school, saying that they will drop her to the school. They had taken her to an abandoned house and raped her. A case was registered against the accused.
As many as 23 witnesses were heard. Five years imprisonment has been awarded for kidnapping and 20 years for rape. The court ordered to hand over the amount of fine to the girl. The court in its verdict also asked to provide help as per recommendation from legal services authority.
Kasargod police circle inspector C K Sunil Kumar and Prem Sadan investigated the case. Circle inspector Dr Balakrishnan submitted charge sheet to the court.
