Mangaluru: Karavali Utsav stage programme held using two wheeler headlight after power failure

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Dec 24: This year’s Karavali Utsav is in news for all negative reasons. As a part of Karavali Utsava, programmes are being conducted at Kadri Park.

Since three days, several performance have been lined up. Similarly, on Monday, December 24, when the cultural event was in progress, the performers had to perform in the dark. For 30 minutes, the performers were seen performing with the help of headlight of motorcycle which led to total embarrassment.

Generator facility was available during the function, but there was no diesel for it to be used. As soon as power went off, the crowd began to disperse from the event. Performers were seen performing without electricity, lights and sound system. Hence, with the help of motorcycle headlight, the performers performed their show.

After 30 minutes, electricity was restored.

I stayed in Ahmedabad for 50 years, there were power outages only 4 times in 50 years, for maintenance work and we were informed about it each time in advance. Hardly anyone has an inverter or generator in Ahmedabad. Here we have power outages every day and many times more than once per day. Why is it so.

Now in hebri 2 days in a week, Tuesday and Friday there is no power. One day of no power needs 70 liters of diesel for generators, its around 5000. If power was there only 500 rs was enough. By this way one industry is stressed 9000 x52=4.5 lakhs per year for lack of power.....lack of power increases diesel consumption, also increases pollution. But we are happy doing secularism...

What a pathetic state of the so called and proposed Smart City?
Mangaluru people are good only to roam around in malls and spend money and get ullu by all the rest of the Indians.
Slowly but surely, non-mangaloreans are taking the hold in this city in all kinds of business, real estate, administration. The days are not far when Mangaluru will really become Mangagala Ooru where the monkeys of this city will be made to dance to the tunes of people from all over India.

Wake up kudla..only doing kambala and kori katta is not enough. basic infrastructure needs to be set right

This is such a sad thing that this year's karavali utsav has been a total failure till now. Inauguration had no proper planned security and the protest ended up on the stage. Can you imagine how poor the security must be? The VIPs could have been attacked easily if some others had wanted to, luckily it was just the harmless protestors. Secondly, the shops haven't opened, the entire set up is incomplete. People are coming from far off places with their families to return, how sad isn't it? And now this of using a motorbike for light. Man is there anything more remaining to happen? Why even do something if you are so unprepared and not capable of doing it..??
