Udupi: Eight fishermen missing since a week in deep sea

Udupi, Dec 24: The family members of the fishermen of Suvarna Tribhuja boat, who went for deep sea fishing from the Malpe sea port, are not able to make any mobile contact with them for the past one week. The anxious kith and kin of these fishermen have registered a complaint in this regard in the Malpe police station.

The boat carried owner of the boat Chandrashekhar Kotian, Damodar, Kumta residents Laxman, Sathish, Ravi, Harish, Ramesh and Jogaiah. The boat had left Malpe sea port at 11 pm on December 13. The crew members of the boat were in contact with the family members till 1 am of December 15. However, the mobile contact snapped after that and the mobile phones of all the men on the boat are in switched-off mode.

Parshwanath, deputy director of Malpe fisheries has informed the same to the Mangaluru Coast Guard, which in turn has relayed the information to Goa Coast Guard.

Search operation for the said fishermen and the boat is on.
