Mangaluru, Dec 23: Many trees were axed in Mangaluru’s prime locations to take up road development and widening work. However, the branches of trees axed near Nanthoor bus stand are still not cleared.
The debris has become a hurdle to pedestrians and two wheeler riders, obstructing smooth traffic flow. The trees were axed nearly two weeks ago and still the concerned officials have not cleared the branches, in spite of being aware of the congestion at the circle.
Localities have complained that Nanthoor circle which is already an accident prone zone has become even more dangerous with the tree waste. Many two-wheeler riders have met with minor accidents, as they could not see the branches lying on the road, in the night. They are now pleading concerned officials to clear the road on priority, before a major mishap strikes.
