Kasargod, Dec 20: A woman of Karnataka origin was found murdered in a lodge of Vidyanagar, on the outskirts of the city on Thursday, December 20. A person named Chandra (35), who accompanied the woman is missing.
Sarasu (30), a native of Hubballi in Karnataka is the deceased woman. Chandra, who is absconding is doing the work of laying interlocks in the city. Both the deceased and Chandra used to reside in the lodge at Vidyanagar since some years.
Chandra had returned the key of his room to the owner of the lodge on Tuesday, December 18, saying that he is going to his home town and will be returning after two days. However, when he did not return after two days, the lodge owner tried contact him on his mobile but his mobile was in switched-off mode.
On the morning of Thursday, December 20, the owner of the lodge opened the room in which Chandra used to live, in order to take some tools. When he opened the door of the room, he found the body of the deceased woman. The lodge owner informed the same to the city police immediately.
The police who visited the spot of the murder conducted the investigation and collected information. They took the help of Manjula, also of Karnataka origin, who resides nearby the lodge to gather more information about the deceased lady as well as the absconding Chandra.
The mortal remains of the deceased woman is sent to the Periyaram medical college hospital. Fingerprint experts, dog squad and forensic experts have also arrived on the spot and gathered requisite details. Police are on the search for absconding accused Chandra.
