Moodbidri: Renowned singer Hariharan to receive Alva’s Virasat award

Moodbidri, Dec 19: “Alva’s Education Foundation is celebrating ‘Alva’s Virasat’ silver jubilee. We will be felicitating well known playback singer, achiever of fusion music, Padma Shree Hariharan with ‘Alva’s Virasat 2019’ award,” said Alva’s Education Foundation president Dr M Mohan Alva.

He gave the information in the press conference held on Wednesday, December 19 at his office.

“Alva’s Virasat programmers will be held in Vanajakshi K Sripathi Bhat stage, Puthige, Moodbidri from January 4 to January 6. Preparations to provide variety entertainments to the audience are in progress. Alva’s Virasat has been identifying a high class talent during Alva’s Virasat events during the last 25 years for presentation of the awards,” he informed.


Hariharan

“The award consists of Rs one lac cash and a certificate. Famous background singer in Indian films, Anantha Subramani known as ‘Hariharan’ will receive the award this year,” he said.

“Hariharan has immense talent in Gazal, devotional songs and Indian classical music. He has sung in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telugu films.Hariharan who was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is also a music composer and has released more than 30 Gazal albums. He has made ‘colonial cousins‘ albums with famous singer and music director Leslie Levin and has come up as achiever of fusion music.

Hariharan was presented Padma Shree award in 2004 considering his talent. His song ‘Mere Dushman Mere Bhai’ Hindi song of film ‘Border under music direction of Anu Malik and Marathi song ‘Jeev Rangla’ of film ‘Jogwa’ with the music direction of Ajay Atul have bagged national awards.

Alva’s PRO Dr Padmanabha Shenoy was present in the news conference.
