The three men, who believe that disturbances in the society and danger posed to environment by the use of plastic are equally dangerous, have chosen to give a message to the society on Christmas this year. The youngsters who have joined hands for achieving this objective are Prasanna Joel Sequeira, Yatish Kulal, and Abdul Rauf, all from Shirtady.
They joined together and worked day and night for 15 days to create a 20 feet x 20 feet mega sized Christmas star. They have taken care to see that plastic is not used. This star has now been installed in the premises of Mount Carmel church here. It has become the cynosure of all eyes. For this star, the trio has used white cloth that symbolizes peace. They took upon this task with the specific purpose of spreading Christmas message, even though the cost factor was a little daunting.
The star has been made out of environment-friendly substances that are naturally available. In addition to these three men, about seven others also voluntarily joined hands with them. This entire team of ten members comprised of all the religions, which makes it unique. During the course of the creation of the star lasting 15 days, all the youngsters wore the T-shirts with Christmas greetings on them in the
same colour, like uniforms.
Environment-friendly
The star, made by using bamboo and used wooden pieces, has been draped entirely in white cloth. Betel nut husks have been artistically stuck on the white cloth. In the square space at the centre of the star, a tiny image of Infant Christ has been kept inside the cradle. This cradle continuously keeps rocking. Colour lighting has been provided from outside and fountain has been fitted below the star.
30 metres of white cloth, 50 kg betel nut husk, ten kg Maida, car viper motor, 20 feet bamboo, 15 feet old wooden pieces, and 250 grams of jute rope have been used for the star. A 20-metre long rosary has also been prepared by the youth which has been provided over the star. For the rosary, 60 betel nuts and rope made out of clothes have been used.
Peace and harmony
People from all the religions should imbibe humanity in their hearts to achieve peace and harmonious coexistence in society. India is a country that has people from diverse religions and cultures. Prasanna Joel Sequeira says that the purpose of making this star is to achieve unity and cordial relationship in the society. He said that three persons from different religions joined hands for the creation of the star to show concern for plastic-free environment and spread Christmas message.
Yatish Kulal said that they have been making small size stars since the last five years, and this time, they discussed the idea of making it on a large scale. He says that he has faith in the churches and Christians, and that everyone here is living in a friendly and trustworthy atmosphere. He says he is happy at being involved with making this star.
Abdul Rauf notes that the current generation is not interested even in getting to know the neighbours. He warns that this can give rise to a feeling of unhappiness in future. As all the religions preach peace, he feels this awareness should be spread to everyone, as living with mutual understanding is very important. He hoped that this star will stand a model for everyone who want peace in the society.
