Bengaluru, Dec 17: The city central police (CCB) have arrested a journalist identified as Ashok, duly accusing him of conniving with one of the accused in Ambidant scandal, Vijay Thatha, and making an effort to sully CCB's reputation.
CCB inspector, Manjunath, had filed complaint in Vidhana Soudha police station, accusing Ashok and some others of undermining the standing of CCB and obstructing the investigating team from discharging duties.
During the process of questioning, Ashok reportedly admitted that he was the one who prepared the press statement released in a press conference held against CCB police. On the basis of this submission, Ashok was arrested, the police said.
Two persons, Zayed Khan and Sirazuddin, had addressed a press meet at the Press Club here on December 12, making certain allegations against CCB that is investigating Ambidant scandal in which crores of rupees have been alleged to have been swindled after collecting share capital from the people. They had said in the press conference that Ambidant managing director, Fareed, and senior police officer, Alok Kumar, are friendly with each other because of which the officials did not try to cancel the bail granted to Fareed by the court. They also had observed at the press conference that the CCB investigation was not on the right track.
