Mangaluru, Dec 17: The much-awaited show of Pradeep Barboza’s Konkani drama ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ was witnessed by a houseful audience. The drama kept the audience glued to their seats till the last word of the last scene at Don Bosco Hall in the city on Sunday, December 16.
This show was organized by Oasis Creations, Mangaluru, in association with Oasis Caterers and Arrangers Merlapadav under the leadership of William Saldanha and Ivan Saldanha.
The drama by ‘Saangon Mugdana Kalakar’ under the leadership of ‘Haasy Raay Kunvar’ Pradeep Barboza Paladka created laughter riot in the auditorium. Konkani drama lovers in Mangaluru got an opportunity to witness the comedy drama which received claps and whistles at each and every scene.
The entire plot revolves around a bus stand and two shops run by different families as a family business. The drama is a blend of family and love story, comedy and suspense. The script takes interesting turns when nearing the climax and makes the audience to anticipate alternate endings.
Apart from Pradeep Barboza himself, Alphonse D'Souza, Moodbelle, Godwyn Castelino, Attur, Royston Kiran D'Souza, Balkunje, Vernon D'Souza, Bajjodi, Paul D’Souza, Paladka, Nanu Marol, Thottam, Helwyn Barboza, Kuloor, Laveena Fernandes, Pangala, and Venicia Rodrigues, Alangar performed in the drama. Frankith Niddodi scored the music and Dainy D'Souza was the coordinator. All the artistes are residents of Dubai and arrived specially for the show, which made audience happier.
The script and the brilliant performances of all the artists made the audience to forget their stressful weekdays and gave a perfect treat of laughter on the weekend.
At the end of the drama, on behalf of organizers and drama lovers of Konkani world, Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group, bestowed the award of ‘Konkani Haasy Rathn’ on Pradeep Barboza.
In his speech Walter said, “Pradeep has already proved his talent through many of his dramas and a movie. Being a dedicated and committed artist, he tried to give a new touch for the Konkani theatre. I know him from many years and also his talent very well. He has a special quality to change his figure, based on the character of the drama or movie. We can call him Aamir Khan of Konkani. It shows his dedication towards the theatre.
"Our appreciation should go to the actors too. Majority of they came only for this performance. Many are returning back tonight. They spent money from their own pockets for the flight tickets and other travel-related expenses. It shows their commitment towards the Konkani drama. I congratulate Pradeep and all the artists for their success and wish them all the best for their future projects,” he said.
Thanking the organizers and audience Pradeep said, “I am happy to see the houseful crowd here. It shows the love and support of the people towards the Konkani drama and artists. It is the best reward for us. This type of encouragement leads us to be more active in stage or drama field. I thank the organizers and the audience."
Before the drama, a formal inauguration was held. Ivan D'Souza, MLC, Devadas Kapikad, director and actor from Coastalwood, Anil Lobo Fermai, chairman MCC bank, Melwyn Peris, Fr Joyson Vas, Dolla Mangaluru and Elias Fernandes, Fourwinds, were present.
Floyd D'Mello, Cascia compered the event.
The organisers William Saldanha and Ivan Saldanha also got a special appreciation from the audience. They tried to make the show memorable and special by offering snacks and grand dinner for the audience.
