Udupi, Dec 16: Generally wedding anniversary or birthday party means people will cut cake and celebrate with a big party to friends and relatives. However, in the city, a person has celebrated his wedding anniversary in a unique way in a Goshala.
Shashidhar Bhat, a resident of the city, celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary in Nilavar Goshala in Brahmavar. Shashidhar Bhat joined hands with Yuva Brahmana Parishad and fed 1,500 cows, thereby offering a unique service.
"Shashidhar fed the cows with delicious food. He has spent around Rs 60,000 for this act. This is a kind of service to God is his belief," said, Vishnu Padigar, a local.
People spend lacs of rupees in the name of birthday and anniversary celebration. Bhat and the members of his ganga have shown that the same money can also be utilized for noble acts like this one. Bhat and friends had been to the Nilavar Goshala on the previous day of the anniversary and prepared the food. They prepared a mixture of rice, cow feed and hot beans, which is favourite food of cows.
"This mixed food was fed to more than 1500 cows of the Goshala. This event is an inspiration to a lot of people," says local resident Divya Bhat.
Lacs of rupees are required for the maintenance of Goshala. Shashidhar Bhat has shown that instead of spending heftily on parties, the same can be celebrated with mute animals.
