Mangaluru, Dec 15: Political activities have intensified in the country as Lok Sabha elections are approaching. Political parties are thinking of election moves now itself. The exercise of selecting candidates has become brisk. Meanwhile, preparations in BJP and Congress have begun. Congress has begun the process of selecting able candidates. BJP has decided to send Nalin Kumar Kateel, who has won twice in a row forward. However, voices of dissent can be heard in BJP. Discussions supporting as well as opposing Kateel’s candidature have started.
It is said that eye specialist from Mangaluru and leader of BJP medical division Dr Sudhir Hegde is eager to contest from BJP. He has said that he is ready to contest election from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency.
Speaking to reporters, he said that he is prepared to contest following persuasion from activists. “The decision to offer ticket is left to party leaders. I will work hard if I get an opportunity,” he said.
“Clean mind of Narendra Modi, his stand for the country and strong bold decisions are our inspiration. There are no two minds to serve the people according to the desire of party activists if the party gives an opportunity. I have sufficient experience in spiritual, educational and medical sectors. I aim to provide suitable education to youth together with awareness of health,” he said.
The statement of Dr Sudhir Hegde has given rise to discussions in Dakshina Kannada district BJP.
Besides Dr Sudhir Hegde, young BJP leader Brijesh Chowta is eyeing on the election ticket. Therefore, speculations are rife that ticket politics have started in DK BJP unit.
It is said that BJP does not want to issue tickets to controversial leaders. If that is the case, Nalin Kateel and Anant Kumar Hegde are likely to be deprived of it. There are also complaints that Nalin Kumar has neglected the constituency. Therefore, it is said that newcomers are likely to get a chance.
