Mangaluru: Scooter rider dies in accident involving bus

Mangaluru, Dec 11: A bus hit a scooter at Baiturli Junction in the outskirts of the city on Monday December 10 evening. This accident caused the death of Thimmappa (42), a resident of Kantarabettu in Ulaibettu.

Thimmappa used to work for a catering agency in the city. After work on Monday evening, on his way home by his two-wheeler tragedy struck. Thimmappa lived in a rented house near Tiruvail. It is gathered that he was moving toward Kududpu when he overtook a bus at Baiturli Junction. At that moment, a private bus which came from the direction of Karkala hit him hard.

Thimmappa, who got entangled in the bus wheel, was dragged by the bus for about 50 metre before coming to a stop. Having suffered extensive injuries, Thimmappa breathed his last on the spot.

Thimmappa is survived by his wife and two children. His wife, it is said, has been suffering from ill health since sometime. She is recuperating after having been treated in a hospital in the city. Thimmappa also worked as mason. His family happens to be very poor.

A case about the accident was registered at the city (south) traffic police station.
