Udupi, Dec 9: In the case relating to the death of a bike rider, who was killed when his bike was hit by a tipper, chief civil judge (senior section) of Udupi court has ordered the insurance company to pay a compensation of Rs 1.15 crore to the victim's family.
On August 2, 2016, when Johnson Michael D'Souza was riding his bike at Ganapanakatte, Moodubelle near here, a Tipper truck which was driven too fast and recklessly had hit his bike and he had lost his life. A case seeking compensation was filed in this regard in the Udupi court.

The court has ordered the insurance company of the Tipper truck to pay Rs 1,15,96,800 and an additional interest of 6.1% on the amount and also the expenses borne by the applicant. Lawyer Alevoor Premraj Kini had argued the case in favour of the applicant.
