Mangaluru, Dec 7: District South BJP staged protest here at DC office on Friday, December 7, against sand policy and delay in services from revenue department such as single site and land conversion.
Addressing the protestors, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, "State government should sort out sand shortage issues in the district or else soon after the sessions, BJP members will conduct fast-unto-death protest. District administration has not given permission for sand extraction in the month of December and this has created lot of trouble for the building workers to continue their job.”
"After several pleas to state government, revenue department and district administration, still the permission has not been given for sand extraction. This issue will be raised during the session, and then BJP members will conduct fast unto death protest,” he warned.
He further said, "People are not able to get the services pertaining to revenue department. Now Mangalore City Corporation has made property card compulsory which has created more trouble and inconvenience to the general public. Only 30% have availed property card, still 70% have yet to do their property card. District administration has extended one month time to avail property card, but the duration is not enough for the completion of property card for the rest 70%.”
“Former chief minister Siddaramaiah is the reason behind the problems that has been created in the district and it is unfortunate that the present chief minister has not come forward to sort out the issues in the district,” alleged MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
District BJP general secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta, former MLC Monappa Bhandary, BJP leaders Sanjay Prabhu, corporator Premananda Shetty, Sudhir Kannur, Roopa D Bangera and others were present.
