Kundapur, Dec 7: The protest at Sasthan tollgate demanding the exclusion of KA 20 registration vehicles from paying toll charges, in addition to other demands, is getting intensified. The Highway Awareness Committee had given the call for a bandh on Friday, December 7 and they are getting massive support from the public and organizations.
Nearly 130 organizations have called for this bandh. Already protesters in large numbers have gathered near the tollgate and a meeting is going to start in a while.
The district administration, which has taken a serious note of the situation, had deployed police personnel in huge numbers that was never seen before in the history of the taluk. The police are not allowing the protesters to stop any vehicles. All the shops and establishments are closed as a mark of support for the protest.
One additional SP, two DySP, six circle inspectors, 12 police sub-inspectors, 21 assistant sub-inspectors, 38 SCPC, 71 head constables, 28 women police constables, eight police vans, three companies of KASRP, four companies of BAR, ambulances and fire service personnel are deployed at the spot.
