Mangaluru, Dec 7: Raveendra Gowda, a farmer from Balembi Melchembu near Sullia, has complained to Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP), accusing police sub-inspector of Sullia station of launching murderous assault on him.
"I had been issued a warrant by the Sullia court relating to cheque bounce case. I had visited Bengaluru to secure stay order against this warrant when Sullia police came searching for me. The police grew angry at not finding me during their visit. The sub-inspector and other staff took me to the police station and indiscriminately hit me with hockey stick and iron rod, resulting in bruised skin and blood clots. I have been devastated mentally and physically. In the past too the sub-inspector, Manjunath, came to my house, pointed pistol at my wife and mother, and threatened them to eliminate me through encounter," he stated in his complaint.
