Mangaluru, Dec 7: Police, in a quick operation, arrested two accused in the case relating to the kidnap of a youth from Falnir in the city, assaulting him and taking ransom.
Loy Veigas and Gautam are the arrested culprits. Shimaaq Hassan (22) is the youth who was kidnapped and assaulted.
A case was registered in this connection at Pandeshwar police station of the city against Gautam, Loy Veigas, Ankit and Aditya Valke.

Mangaluru, Dec 7: In an incident which reportedly happened on Wednesday December 5, a gang kidnapped a person named Shimaaq Hassan (22) from Falnir here. Hassan was taken to near Sasihitlu by the five-member gang. The gang thrashed him there and robbed cash found in his possession.
In his complaint to the police, Hassan named his tormentors as Gautam, Loy Veigas, Gautam, Ankit, and Aditya Walke.
Shimaaq has been pursuing his BBM degree course through a college in the city. He was having coffee in the company of friends, Naushad and Saurav, at an outlet at Attavar at 5 pm on December 5. Shimaaq's classmate, Ankit, who arrived there on a motor bike, asked Shimaaq to accompany him, informing that he had some work with him.
Since Shimaaq did not return even after half an hour, his friends called him over cellphone. Initially he did not receive the call. When an effort was made to contact him by using another cellphone, the kidnappers said that they were taking Shimaaq to Moodbidri.
Later, the thugs called the friends demanding ransom of Rs 50,000 for releasing Shimaaq. A few hours later, they again made a call, threatening to kill the young man. It is said that immediately after money as demanded was handed over to the miscreants near KPT here, they pushed out Shimaaq from a Maruti Swift car and escaped.
It was found that the youth had been badly hit by the kidnappers in his face, head and back with iron rod. They also had inflicted burn injuries on his body with cigarette butts. His back has been badly bruised.
The injured stands admitted into Wenlock Hospital here. A case stands registered in Pandeshwar police station. The police are trying to catch hold of the accused. The Swift car used for the kidnap and iron rods found inside have been taken into possession by the police.
