Bengaluru, Dec 6: The anger of ministers that was building since sometime against aggressive nature of PWD minister, H D Revanna, came into the open at the cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday December 5. Revanna was taken to task by several other ministers even as chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, helplessly looked on.
Revnna tried to suddenly raise additional issues relating to irrigation projects in his Hassan districts. At the same time, he also opposed the proposal to release water from Hemavathi dam to Tumakuru district. Deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwar, and water resources minister, D K Shivakumar, lost their cool and took Revanna to task. Particularly on the issue of opposing release of Hemavathi water, all the three minsters from Tumakuru district hit back.
When Revanna lost his patience and began to shout, the chief minister intervened and advised his brother to remain calm. Feeling humiliated, Revanna continued to be in angry mood till the conclusion of the meeting, it is learnt.
The plan to release water from Hemavathi dam had been drafted during the previous government, although Revanna, who was in the opposition then, had resisted it. Hemavathi dam is filled to the brim now and there shoud not be any problem in releasing water to Tumakuru district. Minsters from Tumakuru, Dr G Parameshwar, labour minister, Venkataramanna and small scale industries minister, Gubbi Srinivas, stood their ground and insisted on rlease of Hemavathi water to their district. When Revanna tried to move new proposals relating to irrigation projects in Hassan, Shivakumar objected and said that before raising the topic, both the parties should sit together and take decisions before hand.
