Mangaluru, Dec 6: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament (MP), Nalin Kumar Kateel, has demanded strict action against those who have posed death threat to former union minister and Congress leader, B Janardhana Poojary.
In a release, he urged the government to take serious view of the vilification campaign launched against Janardhana Poojary as retaliation for his statement about the construction of Sri Ram temple at Ayodhya. He urged the police to find out the communal bigots who have been demanding to eliminate B Janardhana Poojary through an encounter, and ensure that they face strict punishment.
The MP's press release also asked the government to take all steps which might be necessary to overcome anti-social forces which are trying to get themselves deeply established in coastal Karnataka.
City police commissioner, T R Suresh, said that the incident in which senior Congress leader, B Janardhana Poojary, was criticized and threatened on social media would be investigated.
Brahmashri Narayana Guru Samaja Seva Sangha Kavoor, on Wednesday December 5, met deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district and urged him through a memorandum to investigate the case in which Poojary, a prominent leader of Billawa community, has been abused and threatened through social websites, and to take strict action against the culprit.
