Udupi: Annual police sports meet celebrates spirit of sportsmanship

Udupi, Dec 3: The Udupi district annual police sports meet was inaugurated by CEO of Zilla Panchayat Sindhu B Rupesh at District Sports Ground, Ajjarkad on Monday, December 3.

Sindhu Rupesh released the tricolour balloons and parrots to mark inauguration of annual sports meet. While, other guests of the event ADC Vidya Kumari, Deputy Forest preservation officer Prabhakaran and AC Bhubalan were present.

Prior to the event, the guests received guard of honour from the police personnel.

A beautiful march-past was performed by sub division police.

Yogishwar Naik APC, DAR Udupi brought the sports lamp to the ground.

Sahadev S Emmoji, RSI DAR administered oath to the participants.

Inaugurator of the event Sindhu, addressing the gathering said, “Sports plays an important role in integrated development of a human. Let's play sports with all sportive spirit in competition. She wished all the best to the participants.”

SP Lakshman handed over shield to all the guests as token of gratitude.

Running race, volleyball, throw ball and many other sports were organised for district police. Officials of all sub division police department, participated in three day district annual sports meet enthusiastically.

J Arun Chakravarthi, IGP of Western Range, Mangaluru will be the chief guest of valedictory ceremony to be held on Wednesday, December 5.

Superintendent of police Udupi district Lakshman B Nimbargi extended the welcome. Additional SP Kumarachandra proposed vote of thanks.

B Manmohan Rao, PSI, police control room compered the programme.
