Ramanagara, Dec 3: Under instructions from the court, police personnel of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) have registered a case against B Nataraj, hostel warden, who is facing the allegation of amassing wealth that is disproportionate to his known sources of income.
B Nataraj is the junior warden of government pre-matriculation boys’ hostel at Hunasanahalli in Kanakapura taluk.
Nataraj allegedly owns 40 acres of land in Kanakapura taluk in the names of brother and close relatives, 15.24 acres of land in Kollegal taluk, Chamarajanagar district and in Bengaluru city. After social activist, Raikumar, filed complaint in Kanakapura second additional sessions court claiming that Nataraj had property worth Rs 250 crore, the court which heard the petition on November 22, directed ACB officials to investigate the complaint. ACB deputy superintendent of police, Chandrashekhar, who has registered the case, has undertaken probe.
Nataraj had joined duty at Chennarayapatna taluk students’ hostel under social welfare department in the capacity of junior warden in 1995. He used to get daily wage of Rs 700 for the same. He later was transferred to Kanakapura taluk and his services were confirmed. His ancestral property is four acres of agricultural land in Erangere village in Kodihali revenue division, Kanakapura. He does not have any source of income other than government salary, Ravikumar said in the complaint. He added that after his transfer to Kanakapura, Nataraj acquired large tracts of land in Erangere, Edamadu, Harohalli, Chikkaramgere, Kaggalahalli, Manahalli etc. Some of these lands are in his name while others are in joint names of himself and his brother, Nagaraju. Some other lands were transferred in his father's name and through gift deeds, were transferred in the name of his brother. The complainant has claimed that Nataraj also has Benami property in relatives’ names.
Nataraj also has bricks kiln having investment of over two crore rupees, juice factory, residential houses etc. He has a three-storied house in J P Nagar Bengaluru and another house in Kanakapura, all of which the complainant claims, are illegally acquired. He has several vehicles including Scorpio, car, Tata Sumo, three motor bikes and other vehicles.
