Mangaluru, Dec 3: The inaugural and blessing of the renovated and centrally air conditioned golden jubilee hall, Derebail was held on December 2.
Before the formal program tea and snacks was served for all the people gathered. Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Dr Mark Castelino - vicar forane, Mogarnad deanery, Rajesh K, corporator, MCC, Derebail along with Fr Austin Peter Peres, parish priest of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, Fr Gratian Alvares, residential priest, Edward Coelho, vice-president of Derebail parish council, Lizzie Fernandes, secretary of Derebail parish council and other guests were welcomed with live Nasik Band.
Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the renovated jubilee hall by cutting the ribbon. As soon as the guest and the crowd entered, prayer and blessing of the hall took place. By sprinkling the holy water Dr Peter Paul Saldanha blessed the renovated jubilee hall.
The dignitaries and the parishioners were welcomed with a beautiful welcome dance by the children. Later the guests were escorted to the dais by Fr Austin Peter Peres. Fr Gratian Alvares welcomed each and every one gathered for the inaugural program. The strong pillars who toiled day and night to renovate the beautiful golden jubilee hall were given a floral welcome.
Soon after the welcome session, Dr Mark Castelino, former parish priest (1995 -2002) of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail addressed the gathering and spoke a few words on how the Derebail Church hall was built 23 years ago.
Then the chief guest of the evening, Dr Bharath Shetty, MLA, Mangaluru north constituency was felicitated, after which he addressed the gathering. In his speech he assured his full support to all as an MLA.
Later the people who worked for the renovation of the hall were individually introduced by the nature of their work and were called upon the stage. They were felicitated with a memento and a bamboo plant. Rajesh K, corporator, then addressed the gathering and in his speech appreciated Fr Austin Peter Peres for taking such a great responsibility and for bringing up such a beautiful centrally air conditioned hall.
Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was then felicitated by the guests and later in his speech he congratulated Fr Austin Peter Peres and the hall renovation committee for putting their efforts in renovating the golden jubilee hall.
The cultural program began with the dance put up by the energetic YCS girls, followed by the melodious 'Mando' conducted Anil Patrao and his team, comedy Tulu skit by the participants of ‘Bale Telipaale’ - invited by the sports club of Derebail parish and lovely dance performance by Yuva Spandan Derebail (YSD - ICYM).
Edward Coelho proposed the vote of thanks. Felcy Pinto compered the whole inaugural and the cultural programme. The programme concluded with a thanksgiving hymn.
