Udupi, Dec 3: A pilgrim died due to drowning while taking bath in the Madhwa Sarovara in Sri Krishna Math in the early morning of Monday, December 3.
Though the fire service personnel tried to bring the body of the deceased person, which was resting at the bottom of the pond, their effort went in vain. Then diving expert Arun Kumar Dendoorkatte dived to the bottom of the pond and brought the body to the surface.

The body was immediately shifted to the district hospital with the help of social workers Nityananda Olakadu, Vishu Shetty Ambalpady, Taranath Mesta Shiroor and staff of Sri Krishna Math like Rajesh and Ram Naik. The doctor who examined the body of the person confirmed that he has breathed his last. The body is kept in the mortuary of the district hospital and information of the same was relayed to the town police station.
The deceased person has recorded his name and address as Adarsh (39), Vidyanagar, 4th A cross, Shivamogga in the register of the lodge on the previous day where he stayed. The next of kin of the deceased are requested to contact the citizen help center at the district hospital or city police station.
