Mangaluru, Nov 21: To bring out the singing talent of the parishioners, an inter-ward competition 'Talent Search 2018' was organised at Neermarga Church recently.
The tempo and the clout of solo, duet and group singing competitions reverberated around the Neermarga Church campus and the attendance and responses from the parishioners were overwhelming.
As many as 100 competitors from sixteen wards of the parish took part for the solo, duet, mixed group and married couple segments and 90 competitors from twelve wards took part for solo, duet and mixed group. The first competition was judged by the very talented instrumentalists, composers Fr Ronald Serrao and Fr Alwyn Serrao and on the 14th by well-known singers Margaret Rodrigues and Sylvia Fernandes. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Fr Anil D’Mello, parish priest.
The participants were judged on aspects such as pitch and quality of voice, rhythm, expression and modulation, clarity of words and general presentation. The group singing teams and solo singers sang with confidence and spread an aura of pleasant harmony which captivated the over filled auditorium. Some of their songs were so harmonious that they transported the audience to another realm and the mundane everyday world around disappeared. Each singer was enveloped in his own new space and
belting out the song they had prepared, giving it their best go. The judges shared their views about the competition and also gave their valuable suggestions to help the participants to do better in the future. Fr Anil congratulated the winners and explicated that participation helps to boost up confidence, challenge inner self that helps one to know more about one self , realize the forgotten or present dreams, showcasing talents and most of all being able to live completely to the fullest.
