New Delhi, Nov 23: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday said divisive politics might help some people gain power but they could not escape the responsibility of plunging the country's future into darkness.
"Those who create fear in the name of religion or caste may come to power for some days. But, they cannot escape the responsibility of plunging the future of the country into darkness," she told an election rally here.
"Divisive politics is a major challenge before the country," Gandhi said soliciting votes for her party nominees for the upcoming Delhi Assemly poll.
Without naming anyone, the Congress chief said people would have to choose between those spreading hatred and her Congress party which had been working for overall development of the country.
Turning to terrorism, she said it had no religion and the UPA government was fully aware of the dangers posed by it.
"Terrorists are terrorists. They have only one religion -- to spread terror in society," she said.
