Bangalore, Nov 17: Nearly 120 under privileged children from the ‘Mid-day meal served schools’ of the Akshaya Patra Foundation celebrated Children’s Day at Garuda Mall, reently. The special guests were treated to competitions like drawing, painting, and fun–filled games throughout the day. Under the guidance of teachers and mall representatives, they got the opportunity to inspect every shop in the mall and also interacted with the visitors.
Sridham Krishna Das and Venu Vadhana Govinda Das, senior project in-charge, Akshaya Patra Foundation, served hot meals to the children for lunch. Following this, the young ones dressed in attractive costumes to perform dances which were appreciated by the audience. They were also presented prizes and gifts sponsored by the Garuda Mall management. B G Garudachar, managing director, Garuda Group, said, ‘The entire event was organized for underprivileged children to recognize their talents and to fulfill our commitment as an organization working for society’.
Madhu Pandit Das, chairman, Akshaya Patra Foundation, thanked Garudachar for collaborating on the event. In the evening, students of various colleges like St Joseph’s Commerce College, Mount Carmel College, St Joseph’s Indian Composite PU College, Baldwin Boy’s College, and Dayanand Sagar Institute, took to the stage for various events like ‘Mad Ads’, western acoustic, western and Indian dance, and fashion show. This was done to provide a platform for today’s youth to showcase their talents before a large audience.
