Udupi, Nov 13: “BJP supported members are unnecessarily accusing me. They do not allow me to indulge in any development work. BJP members have brought a stay on projects through taluk panchayat president. There are stays on construction of new bus stand, auction of shops and market. I have complained about it to the deputy commissioner,” said 40th Bommarabettu panchayat president Malati Acharya. She was speaking in a press conference at Udupi press club on Monday.
“Allegations due to political enmity are not fair. There are complaints submitted to Assistant commissioner, Kundapur to pull me down from the position of president alleging corruption by me.”
“Allegations of corruption are sent through Whatsapp and TV media also. Uninterrupted efforts are in progress to pull me down from my post. When they realized that it is not possible, they have bought some members through operation Kamala and finalized Wednesday, Nov 14 as date for no confidence motion. I am content with the work performed by me. I am not afraid of anything. There is no need to serve people only when in power.
New Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon has bowed to the pressure by BJP supported members and taken a decision against development. He has prepared to indulge in politics not only in panchayat but also in schools. He has taken one sided approach without approval from the president during formation of SDMC in government model higher primary school. The BJP supported members have also convinced the villagers to start SLRM unit for disposal of trash,” said president Malathi.
Chandrika Keshav, Laxminarayana Prabhu, Chandrashekar, Vivek Kumar, Mahabala, Suresh Kumar and others were present in the press conference.
