Bhatkal, Nov 12: After a car and two auto rickshaws got involved in an accident which happened on Sunday, November 11, opposite the court building here at Ranginakatte, a woman, identified as Shirali Madevi Suresh Naika (42), lost her life. Five persons sustained grievous injuries in the accident. All of them stand admitted into a hospital.

Both the auto rickshaws were badly damaged in the accident. The accident occurred when an auto rickshaw tried to overtake another auto rickshaw ahead that was moving towards Shirali. A car which approached the spot from the opposite direction lost control and hit both the auto rickshaws. The front portion of the car too suffered heavy damage.

Auto drivers, Nagesh Naika from Tenginagundi and Chandra Naika from Muttalli, as well as Bhaskar Naika, an autorickshaw passenger from Shirali, and car passengers, Ratnamma Muneshappa and Kavya Venkatesh from Bengaluru were injured. They were provided with preliminary treatment in the hospital here before shifting to Manipal hospital.

A case in this connection was registered in the town police station here.
