Mangaluru, Nov 8: Sooraj educational institute, Mudipu will be celebrating Sooraj Kalasiri- 2018 a programme that showcases the artistic glory of the coast at Sooraj educational institute premises on Nov 30, Dec 1 and Dec 2.
The celebrations will commence on November 30 with cultural procession by arts team, Chende, Kombu, Kalladka doll, Yakshagana, scouts and guides students from Mudipu junction to Sooraj educational institute. Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliar, former zilla panchayat member, Kurnad and Prashanth Kajava, president of block congress, Mudipu will set the procession in motion.
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmastala will inaugurate the programme.
U T Khader, Karnataka minister of food, housing and district in charge minister, Dr Jayamala, minister of Kannada, culture, women and child development, Justice N Santhosh Hegde, retired Lokayuktha, Karnataka government, Fr Benjamin Pinto, parish priest, St Joseph Vaz church, Mudipu and Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president, Dakshina Kannada district cooperative bank will grace the occasion.
Rotarian P H F Dr Manjunath S Revankar, president, Sooraj educational institutes, Mudipu will chair the programme.
Sooraj group of institutes anniversary celebrations will be held from 9.30 am to 2 pm on December 1. Janapada dances will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm. Several political and government dignitaries will be present.
The concluding day programme will be held at 5 pm on December 2. Padmashree Bharati Vishnuvardhan will be honoured by Kalasiri award. Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is expected to present the award. The programme will be chaired by Rotarian P H F Dr Manjunath S Revankar. Professor B A Vivek Rai, Dr N Vinay Hegde,
Yenepoaya Abdulla Kunhi and P K Mohammed Madani, Juma Masjid, Sambarathota will be the chief guests.
The following will be presented Sooraj Seva awards: M S Mahabaleshwar Bhat, banking sector; Vasudev Asranna, religion; Dr B M Hegde, Medical sector; N Gururaj, Journalism; Konkodi Padmanabha, cooperative sector; Dr Vasanthkumar Perla, media; Mohan Vernekar, arts; Prabhaker Kamath, entrepreneurship; M Ramachandra, literature
and Sahana Poojary, sports.
