Udupi, Nov 16: The inauguration of the ‘Sahakara Saptaha’, a co-operative studies and training programme, was inaugurated at Kediyoor Hotel banquet hall, on Friday November 14, by Dinakar Shetty, municipal councillor. It was jointly organized by Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank, Bangalore, District Co-operative Union, and Badagubettu Credit Co-operative Society.
Shetty said that our traditional values are degenerating due to globalization and urbanization. Our land will prosper from the co-operative movement, as such societies across the undivided district are doing yeomen service in preserving culture and brotherhood, he said. This contributes to the prosperity of the individual and the society. Co-operative banks are also contributing to the welfare and prosperity of society along with nationalized banks, said Shetty.
Sanjeev Kanchan, president, Badagubettu Credit Co-operative Society, presided over the programme. Dr M Radhakrishna, head, department of commerce, MGM College, delivered the keynote address.
Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, president, District Co-operative Union, K Divakar Shetty, president, Mangalore KMF, Basappa, deputy controller, District Co-operative Societies, and lawyer Ashok Kumar Shetty, were present on the dais.
Jayakar Shetty Indrali, manager, Badagubettu Credit Co-operative Society, welcomed the gathering and Jagdish Kemman compered the programme.
