Kundapur, Nov 7: In a case in where a youth was accused of earning the trust of a girl by promising her marriage and raping her at a lodge at Kollur, the court has found the accused guilty of the charges levelled.
Judge of the district and additional sessions court here, Prakash Khanderi who said that the charges against the accused were found to have been proved, said that he would announce quantum of sentence on November 9.
Nagaraj Mahadev Harikant from Dhareshwar near Kumta had developed friendship with a girl from Honnavar. In course of time, the two developed love for each other. After promising to marry the girl in question, Nagaraj reportedly raped the girl at a lodge at Kollur during January 2013. Within a month thereafter, he dumped the girl and entered into alliance with another girl and got engaged to marry her.
The distressed girl complained to Kollur police station. District public prosecutor, Prakashchandra Shetty, represented the prosecution in the case.
