Mangalore, Nov 16: For spreading awareness among the general public and the vehicle users about the importance of controlling environment pollution, the transport department is observing the month of November, as the 'pollution control month'.
The transport department has taken up several awareness programmes for the epeople and also special check-ups of the vehicles that emit lot of smoke. On specified days, free pollution control checks are held in the pollution control centres during the month, as follows:
In Mulky on November 17 and in the city on November 18 in all the emission test centres of the city. Shri Dharmashasta Emission Centre of B C Road will conduct free testing camp on November 19, followed by Nooji Service Centre cum Emission Testing Centre of Vittal on November 25, and in Moodbidri on November 27 .
These centres will issue a checklist of the tests but not the certificates, a release said.
