Mysuru, Nov 7: The district administration has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanti on November 10, though the same is strongly condemned and opposed by leaders of BJP including Pratap Simha, MP.
Abhiram G Shankar, DC of the district said that the Jayanti will be celebrated at Kalamandir on the mentioned day at 11.30 am. This information was conveyed to the concerned officials during a meeting that was held recently.
The DC also said that G T Deve Gowda, the district-in-charge minister will hold a meeting to discuss the details of the celebration soon. He also asked the concerned officials to prepare themselves for the celebration.
Earlier, MP Pratap Simha had said in a press conference that he is opposing the celebration of Tipu Jayanti and has also conveyed to the concerned not to involve him in any celebration of the Jayanti.
Srirangapatna, the place from where Tipu Sultan ruled, is around 20 kilometers from Mysuru.
