Madikeri: Kodagu deluge victim loses compensation amount in online fraud

Madikeri, Nov 6: In an inhuman act, a trickster swindled compensation money from the bank account of a resident of Suntikoppa, a victim of the recent Kodagu deluge by getting the details of his ATM card.

Bograppa, a staff who works in Nada Kacheri here received a call from mobile number 917461892836. The person who spoke in Kannada mixed English language introduced himself as an officer of the bank. He told Bograppa that his card is going to be blocked in a few days and in order to renew the same, details of the ATM card are required. Bograppa who believed in the impersonator gave him the details of the ATM card linked to his savings account with Canara Bank, Suntikoppa branch.

Within a matter of minutes, out of the total amount of Rs 22,000 available in his account, Rs 19,800 was withdrawn by the fraudster in two transactions of Rs 9,900 each. Bograppa who received the message of withdrawal on his mobile called the bank immediately. On inquiry, it is unearthed that his account has been hacked from Lucknow.

    It is sad but he himself is resposible for his problem.So many times it is given on radios,or newspaper,tvs so that no details about ATM cards shouldbe given.control is always better than believing is a device.He should have controlled his card and call bank before giving his details.One is always become wise after falling down.whether bank could help him to get back the money ?With help of the account number?to get block?
