Mangaluru, Nov 5: Urwa police have cracked a robbery case and arrested two persons and seized Rs 1.75 crore cash and an Innova car here on Monday, November 5.
The arrested are Abdul Mannan (29), a resident of Talapady and Razi (26) from Padil.
The robbery took place on October 23 at around 2.30 pm when the complainant, Manjunath Ganapathy, while crossing a road near Ladyhill bus stand was waylaid and abducted in an Innova car. A complaint was registered on October 26 at Urwa police station. In his complaint to the police, Manjunath had mentioned that Rs 15 lac was stolen while the actual amount was Rs 2.35 crore.
Abdul Mannan is already facing eight cases at Ullal and Konaje police stations.
The seized cash is said to be belonging to Santhosh, owner of a silver showroom in Car Street. The cash was stolen by a gang of six when it was being taken from Mumbai to Mangaluru. Four accused in this case are on the run.
The operation was carried out by CCB inspector Shantharam, PSI Sham Sundar, Urwa police station inspector Ravish S Nayak and staff.
