Mangaluru Oct 5: Karavali Karnataka Janabhivriddhi Forum and Krishi Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi staged a protest at DC office here on Monday, November 5, against MRPL over the proposed land acquisition for the expansion of its refinery.
MRPL is all set to expand its refinery and this move has left the people of surrounding areas in deep concern of losing their land for the refinery expansion, the protestors said.
In addition to demanding the withdrawal of the expansion of MRPL refinery, the forum also said that due to this expansion, the people will undergo a lot of issues. “It will pollute the environment and may even cause tragedy in future,” the forum said.
The forum also condemned the move made by MRPL to acquire land through KIADB (Karnataka Industrial area development board).
A memorandum in this regard was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil by the forum, who assured to review the matter.
